Why Shop Midtowne Market?
Great People who give Great Service!
Founded in 1984, Midtowne Market provides a friendly and personalized shopping experience with competitive pricing on great products throughout the store. Meet some of our Great People below:

Steve Eggelston
Store ManagerSteve has been working in grocery stores for 36 years, 26 of those at Midtowne Market as Meat Manager. Today, as Midtown Market’s Store Manager, Steve loves to jump in and help out wherever needed!
With his background as a butcher, it is no surprise that Steve is a big meat guy. His favorite meat to throw on the BBQ grill is a bacon wrapped pork tenderloin filet, which he introduced at Midtowne back in 1996!
When he isn’t around the store, Steve is likely playing one of the 15 guitars in his collection.

Julie Dampier
Assistant ManagerJulie grew up in a grocery store. Her father, Roy Kohrs, owned the original Midtowne IGA in St. Charles. Julie has watched customers come in as kids, work at the store as teens, and return as parents and grandparents.
Julie believes Midtowne is the perfect size store. Big enough to offer great selection, but small enough to personalize your order.
Her favorite item is the spicy chicken tenders from the deli. When not at work, Julie loves cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. She remains a lifelong Whitey Herzog fan.

Joe Schmiederer
Meat ManagerJoe, a lifelong St. Charles native, attended Francis Howell High School, and has been a butcher for 18 years, 8 at Midtowne.
He will tell you that the unique blend of family atmosphere coupled with the freedom to be creative is what makes Midtowne Market special.
Joe’s favorite steak is a ribeye. And when Joe isn’t at work trying to find a great price on ribeye’s, he’s probably fishing, golfing, throwing darts, or playing fantasy football.

Michelle Loy
Deli ManagerMichelle was born and raised in St. Charles and has worked at Midtowne for over 13 years. Cooking ever since she was a toddler, Michelle loves being creative in the kitchen. She makes entrees and soups from scratch and will tell you what you want for lunch before you even know! She believes her ham salad, which is ground fresh and made in-store, is the absolute best in the world!
When not at work, Michelle, more often than not, will be out on the river, boating, skiing, or grilling on a sandbar!

Michael Thomeczek
Grocery ManagerMichael is a grocery store veteran of 4 decades and a third of his career has been spent at Midtowne. If there is a product you want, then he is the guy who will go above and beyond to find it. Michael loves to try new and unique items. He also loves to grab himself a donut from Midtowne’s Bakery!
When not at work, he stays active helping family and friends with building projects such as decks and retaining walls. He’s cut back on softball and bowling, choosing to relax with family and friends instead!

Mike DiCarlo
Produce ManagerMike currently lives in St. Charles and has worked at Midtowne Market for 18 years, the last 5 of those as Produce Manager.
Mike loves the unpredictability of the produce business and the way the produce selection and availability changes with the weather and the seasons.
Mike is married and the proud father of a three-year old daughter. When he’s not busy working at Midtowne Market or being a family man, he’s training to compete in his next half marathon or playing drums in a local rock band.

Ellen Bornhop
Cake DesignerEllen has been decorating cakes since she was a teenager, and at Midtowne for over 15 years. Chances are, if you live in St. Charles and attended a celebration, the cake was decorated by Ellen!
Ellen loves the fact that at Midtowne, customers can come in and order their cakes directly at the store, directly from the designer. This is not “assembly line” cake designing. Midtowne’s cakes are made specifically to order. Each one is unique!
When not at work, Ellen loves to shop, dine out at Tony’s on Main, or take in a movie.

Angie McRoy
Bakery ManagerAngie has been working in bakeries since she was a teenager and was a Bakery Manager by the time she was 20 years old!
She loves all the old fashioned “scratch” baking done at Midtowne Market (“nobody does this anymore!”) but realizes that even more than the scratch baking, it’s the staff that makes Midtowne Market’s bakery truly special. “I’ve never seen such beautiful cakes and the gooey butter is the best in town!”
When not at work, Angie can be found doting on her nieces or relaxing on the beaches of St. Marteen.
